what we believe
the home church is an independent baptist church
1. Of the Scriptures -
All Scripture is verbally inspired as originally written and, therefore, infallible and inerrant.
Matthew 5:18; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:21
2. Of the True God -
There is one living and true God, Who exists in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1; Acts 5:3,4; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:8-10
3. Of Christ’s Birth -
The Lord Jesus Christ was born of a literal virgin, Mary.
Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:35
4. Of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ -
Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead and later ascended unto God the Father.
Matthew 28:6; 1 Corinthians 15:1-7
5. Of Christ’s Return -
A. First, Jesus will return for those "dead in Christ" (saved by grace), who will be resurrected bodily, and then for those who are saved by grace and alive at His coming. This resurrection not only precedes His return to earth to reign 1000 years but also precedes the tribulation period.
B. Second, Jesus will return with His saints to reign on earth for 1000 years.
Revelation 20:1-6; 2 Timothy 2:12
6. Of the Fall of Man -
All men and women inherit a depraved nature and are lost sinners in need of salvation.
Romans 3:10; Ephesians 2:1-3
7. Of the Blood of Jesus -
God has provided salvation through the offering of His Son, Jesus, on the cross of Calvary. His blood was shed to atone for the sins of all mankind.
Romans 3:25; Hebrews 9:22
8. Of Salvation and Justification -
We are saved and justified when we recognize ourselves as sinners and put our trust in Christ Jesus, the Name of God, and in His finished work on Calvary. Salvation is given to us as a gift, through faith, plus nothing.
Romans 3:24; Romans 4:5; Ephesians 2:8-9
9. Of Eternal Salvation -
Once a person is saved by grace, they cannot be lost again. We are eternally secure in Christ.
John 3:16; John 10:27-29; Philippians 1:6; Romans 8:38-39
10. Of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit -
We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit takes place at the time of salvation and is the act of placing the believer into the body of Christ, but it is not a second work of grace. It is different than the "filling" of the Holy Spirit, which is ongoing and a process that may occur at any time and many times in a believers life.
11. Of a Gospel Church -
We believe that a believer should be a part of is a local congregation of baptized believers, associated by the faith and fellowship of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This group of believers observes the ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, and exercising the gifts of the Holy Spirit, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its only Scriptural officers are bishops, or pastors and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus.
